Dear Friends and Benefactors
The time of Pentecost should be a time to allow the Holy Ghost to work in our souls, in families and in society. The Holy Ghost is the "Spirit of Truth whom the world can not receive, because you do not know Him." The lack of love for the truth is possibly the sin against the Holy Spirit, that is, to oppose the truth, either through ignorance or deliberately. The first step in order to accept the truth and live in it and for it, is humility. "God gives grace to the humble" says the Scriptures. The Spirit of Truth, the Holy Ghost can work only in the humble. "Where your treasure is there will be your heart"; for the proud his treasure is in himself, were it belongs; while in the humble his treasures is not himself but what really matters and that which is outside of himself. The humble knows his treasure can only be God. The humble then puts his heart in God and God puts his Spirit in him. Pray much for this grace of humility and let's practice taking every chance to find it. Never forget "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
With the grace of God the Monastery San Jose continues to grow. We have not yet found water in the well, but we do not lose heart and continue drilling and continue to ask your prayers that we find water. We are building our faculty, we are enclosing a wall and are surrounding gardens. The lights are almost completely installed. The vegetable garden has already borne fruit. We have also a bookstore where we offer visitors and the faithful good books, sacramentals, coffee, and part of our harvest vegetables.
We thank you in San Jose for all the help you have given us and continue to help us with and humbly beseech you to continue building this house in San Jose, this Benedictine monastery we trust will help save souls and give great glory to God.
With the blessing and our deepest gratitude.
Father Rafael OSB and the Benedictine community.
